Tuesday was the deadline for Georgia’s 159 counties to certify their votes. Georgia has until Nov. 23 to certify the state’s results.

Republicans are challenging seven Democratic-leaning counties in Georgia, including Chatham County, after they accepted absentee ballots past Friday’s deadline.

The Chatham County Sheriff seat will be determined by voters on Election Day as Democrat challenger Richard Coleman challenges Republican incumbent John Wilcher.

By 5 p.m. Tuesday, all 159 counties in Georgia were to have certified their election results. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger applauded the counties at a press conference for their hard work to meet that deadline.
