Foote confirms Reichel to make Canucks debut vs. Canadiens; likely centring Kane and Boeser
Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote confirmed that newly acquired forward Lukas Reichel will make his debut for the team on Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
Following a five-game road trip, the Vancouver Canucks return to home ice and will face off with the Montreal Canadiens at Rogers Arena for an all-Canadian matchup on Saturday night. Note the early home-ice start time of 4:00 p.
The Canucks will look to bounce back against the Reign Sunday afternoon and prepare to host the Calgary Wranglers and the Henderson Silver Knights during this six-game homestand. Abbotsford falls to 2-3 on the season, and carry over a three-game losing streak from their visit to the Laval Rockets the previous weekend.
Lukas Reichel is a player the Canucks have had their eye on for a while. He’s now a Canuck: the team traded for the former first-round pick on Friday, sending a 2027 fourth-round pick to Chicago in exchange.
“In their search for a centre, the Canucks have made it clear they don’t want to move their 2026 first,” Friedman wrote in Friday's "32 Thoughts" column. “So far, they’ve held to that, and we’ll see where things go.”
The last time the Toronto Blue Jays made it to the World Series, the Vancouver Canucks were on the cusp of making their second Stanley Cup Final appearance in franchise history.
