TENS of thousands took to the streets of Romania’s capital, Bucharest, on Sunday against a top court’s decision last month to annul the presidential election. The protest comes a month after the Constitutional Court made the unprecedented move to annul the election just two days before a December 8 run-off.

The cancellation came after state documents showed frontrunner Calin Georgescu benefited from an unfair social-media campaign likely to have been orchestrated by Russia.

A massive demonstration occurred in Bucharest, during which thousands of people demanded a second round of presidential elections. The constitutional court annulled the results of the first round, which triggered the largest protest so far.
