Dr. Sean Barber was born and raised in Spring, Texas. His interest in neuroscience began with an undergraduate degree in neurobiology from The University of Texas at Austin. He later received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and subsequently completed neurosurgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital followed by a fellowship with Dr. Ziya Gokaslan in spinal oncology and spinal tumor surgery. He also studied endoscopic spinal surgery with Dr. Albert Telfeian at Brown University. Dr. Barber specializes in surgery for tumors of the spinal column, including meningiomas, schwannomas, chordomas, sarcomas and metastases.
