The comments, blogs and reviews about this stretch of road are true. Very beautiful and the Hogback part was a bit nerve wracking. A must-see when you’re in the area.Full review by foodieluvtravel

It was 30 minutes longer to get to our destination when we decided to take this route and my gosh it was well worth it. So if you are not in a rush do itFull review by yasemin2k

We drove from HW 89 to Boulder on this beautiful road. The scenry is beautiful and there are some pull-outs to enjoy the surroundings. We expected more travellers along the way as it was rather quiet.Full review by HaMo1822

Can anyone suggest the very best stops? I'd like to see the petrified forest state park and Anazasi state park. How long should we allow for those? We have limited mobility meaning no big hikes but certainly we want to walk to see different views. We will leave Bryce early planning to be in Torrey around 5. Thanks for any help.

The stop at the Petrified State Park is worth the short drive off Route 12. There's some nice hikes but with limited mobility it's still worth seeing the large petrified tree exhibit near the parking lot. There's also a short walk next to the parking lot which is paved and level for limited mobility that would just take 10 minutes or less to see.

The route 12 is a fabulous scenic drive. When you get to Boulder take a right at the coffee shop and drive into Escalante ...I think it was marked as The Burr Trail...but the road goes through to capital Reef. I would miss Torrey nothing much there. But the drive through the Escalante was the highlight of driving through the USA for three months in a small RV motor home Don’t miss this drive. At the T intersection go into the coffee shop which has a small section for a bite and a few gifts...they have the best coffee in the whole of USA.

Hey Bunny, When we drove through 12 (September), I saw a few bike riders but it is out of my league. The road is paved (but some areas have no shoulder (other than dirt) and there are quite a few hills. I cannot include a link here but I googled "biking scenic byway 12" and there was a good article on the site visitutah that came up. Hope you find it helpful.
Q:
What's the best time to see the aspen change color?
A:
It varies, depending on how cold it gets and how quickly. Usually it occurs sometime the last 3 weeks of September
